The Ansell Suite is proudly named after the Ansell family who owned Moor Hall from 1903 to 1930.

The suite features a beautiful sleigh bed, mirrored furniture, flat screen smart TVs, a separate lounge area with chaise lounge, arm chair and TV and a huge bathroom with spa bubble bath and double shower.

Ansell Suite History

The Ansell Suite is proudly named after the Ansell family who owned Moor Hall from 1903 to 1930.

Prior to the Ansell’s ownership Moor Hall had been owned by Bishop Vesey in the 1500s. During Vesey’s ownership it is said that Henry VIII stayed here and this is when Sutton Coldfield was granted its Royal Charter.

Colonel Edward Ansell of Ansell’s Brewery bought Moor Hall in 1903. The building had been left vacant for some time and he demolished the old hall and erected the present building. The new Moor Hall copied the Tudor style chimneys and added a clock tower. All of the wood carvings and stone work were created on site and architects from all over the country came to admire the workmanship – which can be still seen today in the stained glass windows, carved mantels over the fireplace and stone work.

Colonel Ansell lived with his wife, two of his grown up children and ten servants. The 1911 Census below shows who lived at Moor Hall during this time.

The Ansell family lived at Moor Hall until 1930 when the whole estate was auctioned off and bought by the Streather family for £35,000. The current owners, the Webb family, bought Moor Hall in 1961.
